The Schaeffler Group, which has been represented in Russia since 2006 with its INA, LuK and FAG brands, opened its first plant in Russia in the city of Ulyanovsk in 2014. The plant manufactures automotive and industrial products for the Russian market. The latest expansion of activities was in the rail industry, for instance in the delivery of axlebox bearings for trains for Moscow’s rail loop. Professor Dr. Rainer Lindner, CEO Central and Eastern Europe at Schaeffler, explained: “The railway business plays a key role in the expansion of our activities. That is why Schaeffler has joined the German initiative for High-Speed Traffic to be able to share information on new railway projects with other German companies and the Russian Railway (RZhD) on a regular basis.”
